Delta Sigma Theta Sorority South Broward – Census Presentation to DSTSSB
On January 8, 2020, Florida Asian Services was invitation to do a Census presentation to a group of female high-school students. The meeting was organized by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority South Broward from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at the Henry D. Perry Education Center in Miramar, FL.
FAS introduced what is Census, Census’ impact to seats in House of Representative, and the allocation of federal funding to communities they live in. FAS used a combination of PowerPoint presentation, videos, and discussion to facilitate students’ learning. FAS also displayed statistic on women to showcase the class how Census data can affect their future planning. At the end of the meeting, teachers encouraged students who are 18-year-old or above to apply for Census job. Reading materials and flyers were also distributed to the students.
