Harris Chapel Grandparent Support Group Meeting on Census
On February 18, 2020, Florida Asian Services was invited to attend the Grandparent Support Group Meeting on Census in Harris Chapel. The event was held from 10:00 am to 11:30 pm at Fort Lauderdale, FL.
During the support group meeting, FAS gave a one-hour oral presentation on how importance, easy and confidential of Census. FAS especially highlighted its importance for the seniors and the future of their grandchild, the education, healthcare, and everything around their community. FAS distributed Census promotional materials, flyers, and goodies to remind them to fill out Census when it comes to the household in the upcoming month. FAS also encouraged the seniors to apply for Census jobs to help the local community to be counted. It is especially importance to the community in Oakland Park because many people of colors reside in this area; they will need outreach and language supports on filling out Census.
